On the 11th September a team of six Petanque players travelled to Palmerston North to play for the Jacques Cochonnet Trophy against the holders (Manawatu).
The team consisted of Claire Bradburn, Brian Bradburn, Peter Matthews, Lorraine Gray, Seymour Harawira and Graham Jackson. The competition is over 3 singles 3 doubles and 3 triples. A draw is made on arrival so you don’t know which you are playing or who is on your team .
At the end of the day Silverstream won 6 - 3. Congratulations to the team.
Silverstream last won this trophy in 2008.
Silverstream Petanque has now won 2 trophies this current season the other being the Baine trophy.
Many thanks must be given to Manawatu for providing not only good weather but sumptuous morning, lunch and afternoon tea and a well run tournament.
Silverstream will defend against Naenae at home - a date is yet to be set for this.
