On Saturday, 6 th February, four Petanque members, Graham Jackson, Peter Matthews, Ian Richards and Lorraine Gray travelled to Levin to take part in the Arohanui Hospice Charity Melee. The weather was beautiful and it was a fun day with 38 players competing.
Each player drew a number and competed randomly with and against a wide range of players from clubs throughout the Wellington area. The person with the most wins and best differential at the end of five games won, and although the trophy didn’t come to Silverstream, congratulations to Ian who did extremely well and finished fifth with four wins – well done! It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with raffles, a sausage sizzle and spot prizes. As a result, with thanks to the sponsors and players, the Hospice benefitted by $680
