After showing very strong form throughout the completion, Andy and Sharon met a very experienced combination of Kimberley Hemingway and Jessie Macaw from Naenae in the final. After 12 ends the scores were even but over the final ends the Naenae team pulled away with the final score being 17 to 14. This was however a fantastic effort from the two Silverstream second year bowlers. Mention should also be made of the Sonny White and James Florance who made it through to the quarter finals of the men's section before being knocked out. |

The club held a very successful opening day on Sunday the 27th of August. The weather was fine and there was a good turnout of members. Invited guests were Pat Christianson, Wayne Guppy, Chris Hipkins and Mark O’Connor. As usual the annual completion amongst the invited guests to see who could bowl closest to the jack was a fiercely fought affair with Pat coming out on top. The competition on the piste was equally close with Chris winning this event. After a casual lunch members then spent some time in the sun playing a casual game of bowls. To see photos of the opening day please go to our Facebook page: Bowls Silverstream.
East vs West Challenge played 23rd April - once again West were the victors of the annual East of the railway line vs West of the railway line challenge. After ten years of this event West have won six times, East three times and the event was not played due to bad weather on one occasion. Corner To Corner Club Championship played 23rd April - For much of this event David Hewitt had the winning bowl until Warwick Dugdale played one of his trademark shots where he removed David's bowl and sat alongside the kitty. Congratulations to Warwick as this years winner. Used Bricks Required. Dennis Coombe is looking for used bricks to finish a garden project. If you have any around your place which you don't want can you please give Dennis a ring on 977-4431 and he will gladly collect.

Silverstream members made a splash in the Centre Pairs competition held last weekend, in atrocious conditions. We provided both finalists in the Women's event with Clare Hendra and Kennie Ctitchlow prevailing over Robyn Tuckett and Margaret Opray. A great achievement! Pictured, starting top left and going clockwise are Robyn, Margaret, Kennie and Clare. Meanwhile in the Men's competition Steve Critchlow and Hylton Tuckett were half way through their quarter final when the match was called off due to the conditions, to be finished on another day. Well done!
