WPA Regional Senior Doubles 17 November

Silverstream entered five teams in this event which was held at Otaki on the 17th November.

Silverstream had three teams in the top eight:
Plate
Petrina and Ruth lost in quarter finals
Bowl
Dan and Lorraine lost in quarter finals
Trophy
Rachel and Peter lost in semis to Lorraine and Ian.

Lorraine and Ian won the final

Wellington Doubles 30 - 31 October

(Graham Jackson also entered the Shooting completion)

After seeding on first day:
Lorraine and Ian 16
Brian and Claire 23
Rachel and Peter 24
Dan and Graham 27

Congratulation to Lorraine and Ian being in the top 16.

Plate:
Lorraine and Ian lost in semis to the eventual winners.

Cup:
Brian and Claire beat Rachel and Peter in quarters.
Dan and Graham lost in semis.
Brian and Claire lost in finals in a very good game.

Wellington Regional Singles

20/10/2021

Wellington Regional Singles were held at Levin over the weekend of 16 and 17 October.
Silverstream had 5 players completing, after the seeding round :
Claire Bradburn 18th
Peter Matthews 27th
Graham Jackson 29th
Dan Hawawira 32nd
Rachel Clarke 41
There were 42 players entered.

Results on second day

Claire 2nd
Graham lost in semi finals
Dan lost in quarter finals

Peter lost in quarter finals

Rachel lost in semis

The pointing competition was held at the same time. Rachel qualified 2nd behind Michael Rocks. In the final Rachel lost to Michael. This was the second year she had finished 2nd.

Jacques Cochonnet Trophy

Silverstream challenged Kapiti for the Jacques Cochonnet trophy.

A team of six was selected:
Brian Bradburn, Claire Bradburn, Ian Richards, Graham Jackson and Graeme Pilcher.

After a close completion Kapiti won 5 games to 4.

Rex Hayes Mixed Doubles

On 19 September Claire and Brian Bradburn, Ruth Bradwell, Dan Harawiri, Rachel Clarke, Graham Jackson, Ian Richards and Lorraine Gray played in the Rex Hayes Mixed Doubles held at the Kapiti Club in Paraparaumu.

After four random draw games in the morning, the top 8 went into the Trophy, the next 8 into the Plate and the remaining 6 into the Bowl.

In the afternoon although Claire and Brian made it to the Plate playoffs they were unfortunately eliminated before the final. The other three Silverstream teams played off for the Bowl with the final being won by Lorraine and Ian over Ruth and Dan, and Rachel and Graham being placed third equal.

It was a cold and often wet day but it was a satisfying and enjoyable day.

Baine Trophy

A great day was had at Upper Hutt playing for the Baine Trophy on Sunday 12th September.
This is played between Silverstream, Naenae and Upper Hutt.
Silverstream had 6 doubles teams, Naenae and Upper Hutt had 7.
The final result was very close, with Naenae winning Upper Hutt second Silverstream 3rd (by 0.01 of a point). Congratulations to the players in their first competition.

Ian Baine who the trophy was named after, recently passed away and a minute silence was held.

Wellington Team Selection

Congratulations to Claire Bradburn for being selected for the Wellington Team to play in Auckland this weekend the 28th/29th August.
Unfortunately this has now been postponed due to Covid.

Same Club Doubles

16/8/2021

The 'Same Club Doubles' were held at Levin on the 14th August 2021.
Five Teams of Doubles entered the above competition.
Congratulations to Dan and Ruth on entering their first competition since recently joining the Club.
A good time was had by all.

Masterton Petanque Club Bastille Day Tournament

21/7/2021

Masterton Petanque Club celebrated Bastille Day with their annual Bastille Day Melee.
41 players competed with 32 coming from outside of the Wairarapa.
Contributing clubs were: Masterton, Naenae, Silverstream, Upper Hutt, Horowhenua and Khandallah.
Players were encouraged to dress in a Bastille Day/French theme.
The tournament was played over 5 rounds.
Top Five places went to:
First: Judy Tyree (Horowhenua) 5 wins +28
Second: Graeme Pilcher (Masterton) 5 wins +17
Third: Brian Smith (Upper Hutt) 4 wins + 36
Fourth: Joy Jordan (Upper Hutt) 4 wins +27
Fifth Equal: Philip Cole (Horowhenua) and Graham Jackson (Silverstream) 4 wins +19
Best Costume: Myrna Lane (Masterton)

Petanque Intra Club Championship

Brian Bradburn is the winner of the Intraclub Petanque Championship for 2021.

The Intra Club Championship consists of 10 games in which all of the Members of the Silverstream Petanque Club can participate.

It is calculated with the person who has the most wins and points. Brian won 8 out of his 10 games.
