In the quarter finals they beat a team from Tahiti who are seen as the top Country in Oceania. In the semi finals they took out New Caledonia, meaning they had to beat Wallace in the final. This game started about 9pm and after 2 ends players had to leave the terrain and attend a dinner and formal ceremony attended by the Minister and other dignitaries. The NZ team returned to the terrain as soon as the speeches were over rather than have a meal. When the officials returned the game recommenced and ended up finishing at 12.30am. with NZ winning 15-11. All finals were played to 15 but the rest went to 11. Claire, Jean and Margaret were popular winners and were given great support during the final particularly from the Vanuatu players and locals. NZ has been last in the standings and while this didn’t change the position for the Team it was a great boost for all concerned. The presentations finished at 1.30am.
Claire has a quick turnaround getting home on Tuesday afternoon and going to Alexandra on Thursday as she is in the Trans-Tasman team to play Australia."
