In February we published an on line survey. We received some interesting information but analysis of the results was inconclusive, mainly due to the disappointing response. At our recent AGM interest was expressed in seeing the results and you can do so by clicking here. Please direct any comments to website@silverstream.co.nz.
A message from our Secretary...
This year’s AGM is being held on Sunday 19th June and as per section 14 of the Constitution, the Club is calling for applications for positions on the Executive Committee. There are a couple of existing committee members standing down and we are therefore looking for members to put their names forward for positions on the executive. If you are interested but wish to know more about what is involved please email secretary@silverstream.co.nz. Nominations are to be received at least 14 days prior to the AGM. If you are interested please complete the form attached to the whiteboard at the club or send your nomination to secretary@silverstream.co.nz. The Executive Committee consists of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasury and up to seven other persons. We are also asking for members to indicate their interest in any of the Appointed Positions as shown on page two of the Club Handbook. If you are interested, please complete the form attached to the whiteboard at the club or send your nomination to secretary@silverstream.co.nz. Appointed Positions will be made by the new Executive Committee at their first meeting based on nominations received. The exceptions to this are the Match Committee and Greens Committee which are appointed prior to the AGM.
If you are interested in participating in the East vs. West (Those members that live on the East of the railway tracks vs. those that live on the West) please be at the clubhouse by 12:30 on Sunday to register your name. The event will commence as soon as a draw has been done. The East vs. West will finish at about 3:00pm and be followed by the Corner to Corner event run by Don McMurray.
On Friday 26th January we played the finals of our Grant's Corner to Corner competition. Sponsored by Grant's Whisky, this competition proceeds through club and regional level to national level. Our final included all our Friday night winners and congratulations go to overall winner, Club member Warwick Dugdale and runner up John Eggleton from our Mates In Bowls group. Warwick and John will now compete in the regional final to be held at the Wilton Bowling Club on Saturday 5th March, starting at 2pm. Best of luck to you both!
Here is a message from Margaret Opray: " Many thanks to those who supported social bowls today. We had 10 full members, 2 casual members, 1 social member, 2 mates in bowls and 1 overseas visitor. Although numbers were very disappointing all those who played had a great time and the weather was kind to us The winners were Iain Opray, Paul Smith and David Crombie - no prizes, just the pleasure of winning a good day out. Robyn Tuckett was the lucky participant who won the $50 bar tab for playing in this and attending the mid year update. We also give a huge thanks to Aaron Wall, Dave Hewitt, David King and Graham Mudgway who donated the Pak n Save vouchers they won after an Interclub game to provide the meat, bread and onions for a free barbecue to all who were there. Aaron Wall also cooked the barbeque, so further thanks to him. Thanks to Don McMurray for always having the green ready for us and to Ian Prince for ironing it." Finally a big thanks to Margaret for organising the afternoon.

The Update historically lasts less than an hour. One person who attends the Update will win a $50 bar tab. Following the Update there will be a barbeque for all. This time to Kennie Critchlow and Adam Turner for being selection in the Wellington team to play in the Wellington Canterbury Quadrangular on 13th/14th February.
Please click here to complete our survey. It should only take a couple of minutes and your feedback will be really valuable to us. Please note that the survey is anonymous. We just want your feedback. Also, as some email addresses reach two members (eg wife/husband) it's OK to send in one response or two, whichever you prefer. We intend to have the survey results available for discussion at the Mid Year Meeting on 21st February. If you have any problems in completing the survey, technical or otherwise, please email website@silverstream.co.nz
