On Saturday 5th December, three Mens teams and a Womens team competed in the Centre Open Fours competition. Two of the Mens teams and the Womens team qualified for post section play. On Wednesday 9th December, our two Mens Pennants team featured in 6-0 results, with the Division Three team winning and the Division One team losing. On Thursday 10th December, our Womens Pennants team played rounds #5 & #6 of their competition for one win and one loss. On Saturday 12th December, nine Mens teams and one Womens team competed in the Centre Open Pairs competition, with five Mens teams qualifying for post section play. On Sunday 13th December, in post section play Mark Finlay and Aaron Wall reached the last 16. Well done! On Wednesday 16th December, Mens Pennants Round #1, already postponed once due to the weather was postponed again for the same reason. What is it about Wednesdays...?! On Saturday 19th December, the Interclub competition concluded, with our three teams in action all losing. Overall, our Womens team finished last in their grade and were unfortunately relegated, our two Premier Reserve Mens team finished second and third respectively in their sections and the Mens Division One team just avoided last place. On Saturday 19th December in the afternoon our annual Christmas Ham Gala was hotly contested. Congratulations to ham winners Steve Critchlow, Warwick Dugdale and Brian Ruby! On Sunday 20th December the Bowls Club Championships Mens Pairs concluded. Congratulations to Graham Mudgway & Dave King who beat Adam & Dave Turner in the Final.
On Wednesday 18th November our Mens Pennants teams had a win in Division One and a loss in Division Three. On Friday 20th November our Variety Pairs Gala was cancelled due to the weather. On Saturday 21st November, Round #6 of Interclub was completed, with our teams recording two wins and two losses. The Womens Premier team and the Mens Premier Reserve team in Section One both lost, whilst the Mens Premier Reserve team in Section Four and The Mens Division One team both won. On Saturday 22nd November, section play started in the club championship Mens Pairs and the club championship Womens Singles concluded. Congratulations to Margaret Opray who won a very tight final. Robyn Tuckett was runner up. On Tuesday 24th November Round #8 of the Club Aggregate Cup was played and another of our popular Skills Training sessions was held in the evening. On Wednesday 25th November, our Mens Pennants teams had a loss in Division One and a win in Division Three. On Thursday 26th November, the Womens Pennants team had a win in Round #3 and a loss in Round #4. On Saturday 28th November, Rounds #7 & #8 of Interclub were played. Our Womens Premier Team had two losses, as did the Mens Division One team. The Mens Premier Reserve team in Section One had two wins whilst the Mens Premier Reserve team in Section Four won their only game. Their section has now finished. On Sunday 29th November, section play concluded in the club championship Mens Pairs, with five qualifiers emerging. Post section play is scheduled for Sunday 20th December. There was a casual bowls session in the afternoon that was poorly attended. On Tuesday 1st December, there was no Club Aggregate competition or Skills Training due to the weather.
Claire has also been selected to represent New Zealand at the Oceania Championship in Vanuatu in March 2016. Last weekend Claire and Brian Bradburn represented Wellington against Southern in Otaki and next weekend are competing in the National Senior Doubles in Kapiti, followed by trials for the New Zealand Senior Team to play Australia in March 2016.
