On Tuesday 13th October round #3 of the Club Aggregate Cup was played and there was another of our popular Skills Training sessions in the evening.
On Saturday 17th October, our interclub teams went out to battle in the second round of the Wellington Interclub competition. Results were an improvement on the first round, with both the mens Premier Reserve teams recording 3-0 wins whilst the women had a 1-2 loss in Premier grade. Our Division One mens team still haven't troubled the scorers.
No bowls were possible on Sunday 18th October when the forecast light rain turned out to be anything but. The mens club championship fours will now continue on Sunday 1st November and conclude on Sunday 8th November. The womens club chapionship fours final is still scheduled for Sunday 1st November.
On Monday 5th October our womens team started their campaign in the Gee Shield, an Interclub triples competition that runs through the season. The first round was held at Petone Central and our team of two triples came away with a win and three draws.
On Saturday 10th October our three mens and one womens team competed in the first round of the Wellington interclub competition. In Premier Reserve, Silverstream 1 got off to a solid start with a 2-1 victory. Whatever the opposite of hitting their straps is was what happened to our other three teams, with none of them troubling the scorers. For full details go to the bowls wellington website. On Sunday 11th October we played two rounds of section play in both our mens and womens club championship fours. For progress results in the mens competition go to our club championships: bowls page. The womens final will be played on 1st November
On Saturday 3rd October our mens and womens teams trekked to the Hutt Club for our annual early season challenge. After a good contest, Hutt prevailed, so the Hutt-Stream Shield now has another home. Congratulations to Hutt and thanks to them for their hospitality.
On Sunday 4th October we were scheduled to have a social mixed fours competition. However, due to uneven numbers we ended up playing triples and pairs. It was good fun and bowls was the winner on the day.
On 3rd/4th October, two of our players, Kennie Critchlow and Brian Ruby represented Wellington in the Years 1-5 Hexagonal Tournament in Whanganui. both the mens and womens teams finished as runners up. Well done!
Now that we are back to two greens we are pleased to announce the return of our popular Variety Pairs Gala on Friday 20th November, starting at 9am. We welcome entries from both club members and from members of other clubs. Four different pairs formats will be played during the day and prizes will be determined by the number of entries. On 26th September our mens teams took part in the annual and traditional Gough Shield and Hutt Valley Banner competitions. The Shield team came third equal, with the Banner team not doing quite as well. On 27th September some of our member had an enjoyable time during the afternoon at our first club day.
