Membership
We are a club of over 120 members with approximately 60 men and women playing Bowls and 40 men and women playing Petanque with the remaining members being social or casual. The Bowls and Petanque sections of the club have a mixture of competitive players and those that prefer to pay on a more casual or social basis. The club also caters for non-members who wish to play only in specially arranged community events.
New and prospective members are always welcome. Anyone wishing to “have a go” at Bowls or Petanque are asked to email the secretary at secretary@silverstream.co.nz and we will arrange for one of the club members to ring you.
Greens and Pistes
The club has two natural greens for Bowls and four pistes for Petanque. The greens and pistes are maintained to a high standard.
Clubhouse
The clubhouse has recently been renovated and provides a comfortable environment for socialising with other members. Friday evening is club night and this popular evening is well attended.
Championship and Interclub Play
Bowls - The men’s and women’s Championship competitions and Interclub are held during the summer season mainly in the weekends, although there are some events held mid week.
Petanque - The men’s and women’s Championship competitions and Interclub are held throughout the year.
Casual and Other Events
As well as championship and interclub events the club has a number of competitions against other clubs and casual events, some of which are held in the evenings.
Community Events
The Silverstream Community Bowls Tournament has been a popular event for many years and is held over seven consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This is fun event organised for non-bowlers and bowlers with limited experience. See “Tournaments” for more details.

Session and individual coaching for Bowls and Petanque at all levels is always available.
